As a freshman, I had the opportunity to job shadow early, thanks to my lax school schedule. For my shadowing, I followed one of my adjunct history professors around for a day at Kent State Trumbull and one at YSU. From the experience, not only did I gain a lot more respect for adjunct professors and the type of stuff they have to deal with on a daily basis, but I also got a great glimpse into the life of a teacher, a mentor that people looked at for wisdom, and through that job shadowing, I realized how important it is to have teachers that actually care. For the job shadow, I mostly sat behind the scenes during his lectures, as they were college-level and there was no way I could even try to present anything, since I was a freshman in high school. I watched the way he would interact with the class, with enthusiasm and true passion for the subject. When he wasn't lecturing, we sat in the adjunct lounge and went over a few late papers, and he told me a lot about how he got into teaching, and how his passion for the subject is ever-growing. He explained the most common mistakes that students would make in college, and how I could avoid running into those problems.
